STEVE O'LOUGHLIN of Los Angeles, California, produces large paintings on wood, some of them in amazing three-dimensional construction. Combining his local environment and experiences with his Celtic design ideals, Mr.O'Loughlin produces poetic and provocative visions of our modern Celtic society. His work is featured in "New Visions in Celtic Art" Cassel, 1999. Recently, O’Loughlin is working on large public art projects in Los Angeles and playing traditional music with “The Praties”. "The interlace figures of Celtic art have become a marvelous storytelling device . . . acting out modern dramas and situations. The Los Angeles riots, freeway culture, shopping malls, multi-cultural neighborhoods and even television are some of the themes I've touched upon."
