Betsy Porter Icon Painting
"During the past several years, sacred icons in the Byzantine style have become my primary art form. I work in the traditional egg tempera paint and gold leaf on a wooden board covered with natural gesso. This time-consuming, contemplative method can produce beautiful results, with subtle but glowing colors and delicate detail."

Lauren Mantecón
Painting for me is an exploration in the convergence of seen and unseen forces represented by paint, symbol and color. I seek unifying connections of the eternal to the present expressed in a subjective visual language. In my paintings pearl like forms bind matter and spirit together, not unlike post-modern physics that investigates a unifying force of the universe. I am attracted to the points of desire and the atmosphere of the soul.

Devotional Art of Armando Lopez
Armando López is a Tarascan native born in the village of Santa Maria, Michoacan in S.W. Mexico. The underlying structure of his work stems from the folk art tradition of fashioning figures out of corn husks, twigs, reeds, and grass. These figures were often used as toys to occupy children while their elders tended the crops. |

I want my work to express spirit and beauty, to carry my political passions as a cry against injustice and to call for celebration of eros, the creative life force.
