Cranes are long legged wading birds, usually associated with willow trees and water, mysterious as the fringed marshes along which they dwell. Within the Celtic tradition, birds are soul carriers between the worlds, and the White Crane is particularly associated with the spirit of the trees. There are many stories within Celtic mythology of beautiful young women enchanted into Crane form by jealous rivels, and ill-natured women transformed into the large bird with the bony toes and uncanny shriek. Manannaman the Irish Sea God, makes his Shaman Crane Bag from the skin of a crane that was once a young woman. The Druid's Bag holds Otherworldy treasures - spiritual power objects such as stones and sticks for divination, herbs and plants for healing and giving wisdom, nets and strings for spirit traps. When the sea was full, its treasures were visible, when the fierce sea was in ebb, the crane - bag in turn was empty.

Giclee Printmaking
Contemporary Print makers are beginning to use the Giclee digital print making process
using archival Museum quality materials and inks to produce Fine Art limited edition prints.
The word Giclee is from the French word "to spray". It is a high quality, plateless printing process that was developed in 1989, in which a fine spray of ink moves across the paper. It rivals lithography in its resolution and color range, and is fast becoming a favorite with artists. Robert Rauschenberg and David Hockney are among those using the technique.
Prestigious museums such as the Guggenheim, the New York Metropolitan Museum, the Corcoran in Washington DC to mention a few, are enthusiasticaly embracing the use of Giclee printing from original art. Deep saturated colors, and fine tone resolution using archival water soluble inks and beautiful heavy archival papers produce rich prints which have outstading fade resistance.

Archival Quality Prints
Using Lyson E archival inks, and Arches cold press archival paper printed on Epson Stylus 3000, there is a Wilhelm Imaging Research rating of 50- 55 years of display in a fairly bright envinronment
before noticeable fading or color shift occurs. This is an excellant rating for any Fine Art Print or photograph. Arches consistently produces the best longevity of all the fine arts papers.
